Local Planning Inspectorate Meetings to be Virtual

One of the many and lasting impacts of the current Covid-19 crisis is the changes in the way the workplace and provision of business services in general has and will continue to have to adapt. This week’s announcement by the Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick on planning meetings going virtual is worth reviewing, because of the potentially positive effect on applications for new orangery and conservatory projects.

As we approach the early May Bank Holiday and the VE Day celebrations, which are now being conducted at home as we know, it seems more than an appropriate time to reflect. To consider the monumental sacrifices that generation made for the future and balance it against what we are going through today.

Working Safely Whatever The Next Steps Are

As Boris Johnson took his first daily press conference yesterday, since returning to work, much of the talk over the past few days has been speculation around how the lockdown might be lifted. Indeed the search term ‘when will lockdown end in the UK’ has been trending all week.

Whilst the Prime Minister noted we are “past the peak and on the downward slope,” we are clearly some way off restrictions being lifted as the press conference touched more on a “roadmap” towards a gradual exit from the lockdown.

Google Trends, a website that analyses the popularity of top search queries in Google Search, is a hugely insightful tool to measure trends in search traffic, assessing everything from celebrities to home improvement ideas.

For a business that offers a number of different products we can, for example, assess the relative frequency of searches for a ‘conservatory’ compared to say an ‘orangery’ or ‘garden room.’

One of the issues that customers often talk to us about, here at David Salisbury, is choice of paint colour for their new orangery or garden room. Whilst clearly a subjective matter, colour choice can be influenced by a number of different factors. In the first of two articles, we are going to review the top 10 paint colours for our orangeries – and in a future post, we will reveal our tips for colour trends over the next 12 months.
