Orangery Photoshoot Season - David Salisbury

As we all know, this has been no ordinary year and the impact on every facet of our lives has been hugely significant. As Lockdown restrictions continue to be eased, we’re still working with safety as our principal concern, something we wrote about in detail in last week’s Blog. Whilst our manufacturing operations have been scarcely interrupted, it has meant our traditional orangery and garden room photoshoot ‘season’ will be starting a little later this Summer.

This year will be combining some still photography with some video as well. We’re really looking forward to being on site in the coming weeks at this garden room project above. On the edge of the Somerset Levels, this should be a great location for photography, as well as the drone video shoot we have planned.

Sales of our oak orangeries and oak garden rooms have been significantly growing year on year, again this year, which means photography of these more rustic looking but beautifully natural extensions will be a key part of our portfolio for the Summer. We’re shortlisting a number of oak orangery designs for photoshoots and will look forward to sharing more updates on these in the coming weeks and months.

This time of year creates the ideal conditions for photography with longer days, bright sunshine (fingers crossed!) and our gardens looking at their best – whilst capturing photos at dusk with an orangery illuminated is always atmospheric. The recent combination of sunshine and showers has certainly done wonders for most gardens after the extremely hot and dry Spring/early Summer we experienced.

During Lockdown, we have had a lot of fun looking through our historical photo archives to look for design inspiration and ideas. The series of articles we published reviewing our orangery and conservatory photography from 2000 – 2009, then from 2010 – 2015 and finally our more recent work, during the years 2016 – 2020, proved to be really popular and engaging.

Now it’s time to look through a whole series of sample photos of projects we have installed over the past few months and back to last year to try to narrow down our shortlist.

With literally hundreds of orangery installations successfully completed every year this won’t be a quick task – but one we are well looking forward to. Let’s start by putting the coffee on!
