Finally time to open some windows & doors!
4 May 2018
It seems unbelievable we are already into May - a third of the year has passed by and the first of this month's Bank Holiday weekends is upon us.
The weather is showing signs of warming up, which is just as well as Spring has really struggled to get going this year. Yes, we even scraped ice off our car windscreens here in Somerset on the 1st of May. While there has been talk of a long, hot Summer (we'll believe it when we see it!), one thing we all enjoy doing is getting outside and enjoying our gardens.
Allowing easy access to the exterior of your property, whether via French doors or perhaps the more contemporary option of bi-fold doors (commonly known as sliding doors), there is no other way to be inside and yet be so close to the outside.
We can thoroughly vouch for this ourselves, from a day's work at our orangery showroom at The Chelsea Gardener earlier this week. When the sun shone, we had all of the French doors open as well as a couple of the roof vents and the wonderfully light and airy atmosphere created the perfect working environment - we can't think of a better place to sit at a desk! To then be able to easily step outside to talk to visitors in the warm sunshine was an altogether pleasurable experience and the perfect context to present how best to benefit from the use of an orangery.
It has been proven that we often tend to think of our homes and how to improve them during the Winter months, when we spend more time indoors. Conversely, when the weather warms up, we like to be outside and thinking about our gardens. The great thing about a new orangery, garden room or oak framed extension, is that they can be conceived, designed and installed any time of the year.
Here at David Salisbury, we usually find demand remains relatively constant throughout the year, as opposed to going in seasonal peaks and troughs. Perhaps an unrelated coincidence, but a little like what our customers tell us about our award-winning building extensions - how they become their favourite room of their home and the one they spend most time in.
Whatever the weather, our orangeries and conservatories are built for year round enjoyment. On that note, we wish you an enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend, whether this be at home, in your orangery or out in your garden. Let’s hope we can finally open our windows and doors and let in some warmth!
