Sensitive design yields excellent review

This orangery design for a thatched and previously extended Grade II Listed property in Cambridgeshire required both a sensitive design and professional handling of the planning process.

Also located in a Conservation Area, working with a Listed Building is the type of project for which David Salisbury has accumulated unrivalled experience of successfully gaining the relevant consent and approvals over the years.

The quality of his design work is one of Dan Featherstone’s obvious strengths and this orangery is no exception.

Finished in a sympathetic shade of Mendip Grey from our own unique colour palette, the orangery perfectly complements the existing period property. With twin set of French Doors, the orangery now provides convenient access to the picturesque enclosed gardens.

The customer was kind enough to share some comprehensive feedback on the whole process but admitted they initially were wary of the building process. As Mr Cooke noted: “We loved the prospect of being the proud owners of a David Salisbury Orangery, but the thought of builders and all that that typically entails was still a concern. We need not have worried - our experience of David Salisbury was definitely atypical!”

Our customer opted for a ‘full turnkey’ service including planning, leaving David Salisbury to cover every aspect from start to finish: complete building works and installation of the orangery, expertly project managed by Mark Osborne along every step of the way.

“Throughout the process our experience was superb: from initial design visit, to exceptional support…we could not have wanted more. The way David Salisbury managed the planning process - our property is Grade 2 listed and in a Conservation Area - was professional and sensitive.”

Given the proximity of neighbours, a smooth installation of the orangery was always going to be a key requirement. Describing the build and installation team, our customer noted: “to a man they were wonderful - hard working and considerate, in fact a joy to have around. Nothing was too much trouble, and the quality is exceptional. They worked long days and, without fail, always left the site tidy and safe. The dealings with the office team were similarly professional.”

Our Sales Designer Dan returned to site to take some of these photos shortly after completion. Just to round off what was already another exemplary project, Mr Cooke provided these concluding thoughts: “All this adds up to the obvious fact that there is a culture of excellence at the heart of David Salisbury. We are now furnishing our Orangery and look forward to many years of happy usage, all underpinned by fond memories of the way it came into our lives. My wife and I would unhesitatingly recommend David Salisbury.”

Now we cannot ask for more than that!
