Open Plan Orangery for Living & Enjoying

Client's Comment:

"We are thrilled with our orangery!"

This orangery in South West London combines space for a kitchen extension, along with a dining table and chairs and a living area, all in the type of open plan format that is so sought after nowadays.

With our increasingly busy lifestyles, combining the functions of cooking, eating and relaxing makes sense, especially when these activities often blend together at the same time.

Whether it be a morning coffee, time to read the newspapers, or space for the family to play, an orangery provides such functional living space.

The new orangery added significantly to the overall floor area of this red brick property, allowing the kitchen to open up, with an island unit now extending into the new space.

The parquet flooring continued from the original part of the house into the new orangery extension, adding to the seamless feel that is a hallmark of all David Salisbury designs.

Twin sets of French Doors on each aspect of the orangery provide easy access to the outdoors, whilst vertical sliding sash windows add to the flexible ventilation options.

The large lantern roof with a gable not only continues the theme of adding abundant natural light but provides a striking central design feature. The timber windows with bespoke lattice work are another notable aspect of the design.

The ‘Flagstone’ paint finish, from our own colour palette, rounds off both the exterior and interior with a contemporary feel to what is a beautifully traditional painted timber orangery.

As the customer noted: “From our initial meeting to the final sign off a few months later, we were delighted not only with the end result of our beautiful orangery but also how the team at David Salisbury made the whole journey a real joy. Seeing our early discussions and ideas come to life from sketches and drawings to now enjoying many a dinner party and special family times in our orangery which has truly transformed our home and the way we live each day. So much more natural light has been brought into the space even on the darkest of days and the design and detail has been brought up by almost everyone that enters the room, they are quite literally taken aback by the transformation it has created to what was a very dark and cold part of the home. We can only praise the David Salisbury team for all their help and guidance and also holding our hands through a very seamless and enjoyable experience. An orangery is quite simply a must for the house!”
