Keeping Cool This Weekend
28 June 2019
In what might have felt like an endless period of wet weather, we can finally bask in some warm temperatures this weekend. Whilst we might not be experiencing the record highs that our neighbours in France in particular are sweltering in, this more pleasant weather is an ideal chance to open up some windows and doors and let in some air – and what better place to do so than in your orangery or garden room.
There are a wide range of benefits to owning an extension like these, or indeed a conservatory (which has fully glazed roof), but one of the principal advantages is to bring you closer to the outdoors. Additional features such as French Doors or bi-fold doors, which are increasingly popular, allow you to really open up your garden room or orangery and enjoy a bit of what might be termed ‘indoor/outdoor’ living.
We can certainly vouch for this ourselves after our very successful networking event for architects and designers, held earlier this week at our London showroom at The Chelsea Gardener. We used our modern garden room showroom, which was the ideal location with its bi-fold doors open and remote controlled roof vents, on what was a warm, humid evening in London. Helped in part by the delicious artisan gin that was being served, the attendees were equally comfortable whether inside or out.
There used to be an adage quite some time ago that conservatories could be too hot in the Summer and too cold in the Winter. Modern orangeries and glazed extensions from market leading manufacturers like David Salisbury have long since disproved this perception. Helped in part by our ever-evolving product development and relentless desire to improve our product, a David Salisbury orangery is built for year round enjoyment.
Features such as solar control glass – which allows sunlight to pass through a window while radiating and reflecting away heat – can be chosen to augment southern facing properties whilst underfloor heating is commonly specified to provide a nice, uniform warmth during the winter months.
But let’s not give another thought to heating and instead let’s think about enjoying the weekend ahead! Whether you want to be inside or out, a David Salisbury oak extension or painted orangery gives you that flexible living space for you to enjoy yourself, come rain or shine.
So with sun now out, what are your plans this weekend?
