Set on the outskirts of Bristol, this beautiful period property has been transformed by the addition of a stunning bespoke orangery and a luxury kitchen, both designed and built by David Salisbury.
Needing to replace an old, uncomfortable conservatory, the homeowners wanted to create a light-filled space that would better connect their traditional home with the surrounding gardens, while improving their living space and creating an open plan area to flow through to their new kitchen.
Orangery Design Brief
Situated in a Conservation Area, the design brief was clear from the start: to enhance the property’s period charm while introducing a timeless contemporary elegance. The design of this classic orangery was led by Simon Martin, which sympathetically extended the existing building and delivered a new living space filled with natural light, to be used and enjoyed all year round.
Constructed from solid timber and finished in the subtle tone of ‘Slipper White,’ from our own exclusive colour palette, the orangery exudes style and refinement. Large windows and a generous lantern roof structure invite sunlight deep into the home, while the carefully proportioned pilasters and framework combine to provide a traditional feel.
The result is a space that feels both expansive and intimate – ideal for dining, entertaining, or simply relaxing while enjoying views of the garden.

What makes this project truly special, however, is the effortless flow through to the exquisite new solid oak kitchen.
The new layout is a fusion of stunning design and maximum practicality, offering generous storage, premium quality appliances by Fisher & Paykel, and a central island that perfectly balances the space between the kitchen and the orangery dining area.
The twin ovens and hobs, featuring both induction and gas, create a focal point for cooking in this kitchen, which is highlighted by the distinctive antique mirror glass splashback – another unique design feature.
The cabinetry is painted in Chalk Stream, with the island finished in Blue Lias, forming a striking accent colour. This is the ultimate in bespoke kitchen design – which is made exclusively here in Britain and something we’re very proud to be able to state.
