In the heart of Chelsea, we designed an exquisite kitchen to seamlessly complement our existing freestanding orangery.
Here’s the story of how this kitchen design helped redefine and showcase the concept of contemporary luxury living.
Kitchen Design Brief
Our kitchen designer team envisioned a space that would combine the eye-catching and unique appeal of the orangery with solid oak kitchen cabinetry, crafted to perfection, with the same attention to detail.
The orangery, with its generous sliding sash windows and distinctive domed roof lantern, provided a large and open sanctuary, allowing natural light to flow into the room. The challenge was to design a kitchen that not only enhanced the space but also elevated its functionality.
Kitchen Design Features
A large island, painted in Halcyon Grey from David Salisbury’s unique palette, was designed under the central lantern, instantly creating a central focal point for the new kitchen.
With this deliberately vast engineered quartz worktop, who would ever feel short of space, when preparing dinner for friends and family? Welcome to kitchen island heaven!
We incorporated an Everhot range cooker in black, acting as a striking contrast to the adjoining cabinetry, which was painted in the subtle shade of Papiers. It also provided a useful additional source of heating during Autumn/Winter, when required.
An antique mirror glass backsplash was fitted above the Everhot, further increasing the light emanating around the kitchen and adding a lovely distressed silvered finish. We love the unique character of antique glass, adding a touch of elegance to any kitchen.
Premium appliances were very much part of the theme of this kitchen, with luxury refrigeration and wine cooling provided by Fisher & Paykel and their leading technology behind the ‘mastery of temperature’ – an essential feature for wine connoisseurs. Variable temperature controlled shelves provides perfect storage for whites, champagnes and even reds – wine perfection!
We recently had an orangery and kitchen installed by David Salisbury and it is everything we had hoped it would be and more. The overall quality and standard of finish is superb.
Bespoke Kitchen Storage
But it is not just drinks and evening entertaining that are catered for. A breakfast pantry cupboard is the perfect place to start your day, with space for a luxury coffee machine and everything on hand you need to jumpstart your morning.
Every kitchen needs carefully considered storage, with a combination of shelves, cupboards and clever ideas to organise everything for a busy family. With that in mind, there is something particularly luxurious about a bespoke pantry cupboard, which is why they are on everyone’s kitchen wish list.
If space allows, we will always try and design this type of stylish but practical storage into a new kitchen. Time to say goodbye to clutter!
Nestled in The Chelsea Gardener, we designed this kitchen to exploit the architectural features of this stunning orangery. The fusion of contemporary solid oak kitchen cabinetry with timeless classical elements has created a synergy of styles, embodying the essence of luxury living – and underlining why an orangery kitchen extension continues to be the most popular pairing.
