There is something wonderfully evocative and atmospheric about a fireplace and being able to relax near the warmth of a fire during Winter. With the prospect of colder weather during the coming months, we thought we would round up a selection of 10 inspirational orangery designs with fireplaces. After all, there is nothing that emulates the ambience of a log fire from the comfort of your own home.
The natural heat that emanates from a wood fire is sure to draw the whole family into your living room and Archie, our customer’s dog in this photo above to the left, certainly looks very much at home. The stand-alone log burner, with its own separate flue, is the ideal solution for an extension such as an orangery or garden room, which might not have its own chimney.
In contrast, this oak garden room design above right has made a feature of the chimney, to make it a focal point in this open plan space. The sofas positioned in front and to the side ensure this is the most sought-after spot in this garden room kitchen extension.
For anyone considering a more contemporary style, this fireplace and wall-mounted TV form the centrepiece of this orangery for a new build property near Bristol (shown above left). In a similar fashion, the immaculate modern interiors in this orangery dining room (above right) ensure the fireplace blends into the overall scheme for the room, as opposed to being the dominant feature.
Another example of a freestanding log burner is shown in this oak orangery above, this time with a straight, vertical flue which connects through the sloping mansard section of the roof.
Making use of an existing chimney, this traditional orangery design in Gloucestershire (above right) once again highlights how a fireplace can create the focal point of an interior design.
Sometimes, however, the design of the fireplace will play a minor role to enjoyment of TV, as this oak mansard orangery demonstrates above.
For sheer style, this fireplace above right, for a property in Bath for which we designed and installed bespoke timber windows and bi-fold doors, is the very essence of elegance.
If you’re considering a log burner for your new orangery or home extension, they do not always need to be freestanding, as shown by this wall mounted version above right, in the context of an oak garden room.
Finally, we couldn’t round up our favourite orangeries with fireplaces without including our Chelsea showroom. Our orangery (above right), with its distinctive domed roof lantern, includes a substantial fireplace design from Thornhill Galleries.
So here’s our round up of 10 orangeries with fireplaces to inspire you – and provide a feeling of that characteristic warmth over Winter that comes with a wood fire. Have you got a favourite?
