When the owners of this beautiful Grade II* listed family home in Twickenham, on the edge of London, wanted to transform their existing conservatory and create a more luxurious space for family life and entertaining, they turned to David Salisbury.
The project began with the replacement of the property’s existing conservatory with a bespoke timber orangery, carefully designed to complement the character and proportions of the historic home.

The transformation was then taken a step further with a solid oak luxury kitchen, also designed and installed by David Salisbury.
By entrusting both elements of the project to one specialist team, the homeowners benefited from a seamless design and installation process, with the orangery and kitchen considered together from the outset.

Bespoke Orangery For Listed Home
Replacing an older conservatory on a Grade II* listed property required a sensitive and considered approach, with our experienced planning and heritage consultation team handling all of the necessary planning and listed building applications and consents.
The new orangery needed to enhance the home while respecting its architectural heritage and the character of the surrounding area.
One of our most experienced designers, Eddie Spillane, developed a bespoke design that would sit naturally alongside the existing property, providing a generous new living space while retaining an appropriate sense of scale and proportion.
The completed orangery provides a light-filled connection between the main house and garden, creating a versatile space for everyday family life, dining and entertaining.

Seamless Orangery & Kitchen Build
With the orangery complete, the project continued seamlessly with the installation of a luxury bespoke kitchen by our own expert team.
Working closely with the build team and our orangery installation team, meant we were able to go into manufacture with the new kitchen whilst the orangery was still being completed.
This significantly reduced the overall timeline for the whole project, meaning our customer was able to move in and use their new kitchen substantially quicker than if an alternative kitchen supplier had been chosen. David Salisbury’s unrivalled ability to manage both the orangery and kitchen elements of this contract was critical to this successful outcome.
Rather than treating the kitchen as a separate project, its design was developed by our team as an integral part of the new orangery and living space. This ensured that the architecture, cabinetry, materials and finishes worked together seamlessly, creating a cohesive interior with a strong sense of continuity.

Luxury Solid Oak Kitchen
At the heart of the new kitchen is David Salisbury’s distinctive solid oak cabinetry, crafted to deliver both exceptional quality and timeless appeal.
Our bespoke kitchen design sits beautifully within the period setting, complementing the architectural character of the period property, while introducing a sophisticated contemporary feel.
The kitchen was designed around the way the family wanted to use their new space, combining practical everyday functionality with the elegance and flexibility needed for entertaining.
Stand out features include this large pantry cupboard, shown below, with cold shelf and space for plug-in appliances, abundant storage options and spice racks on both doors.

Bespoke Craftsmanship
The attention to detail continued with another bespoke addition for our discerning customer: a personally-designed drinks cabinet, created and fitted as a final finishing touch.
As the last element of our design scheme, this level of bespoke craftsmanship underlined every aspect of the whole project and how we worked with our customer to successfully deliver the design brief in full.

Delivering A Complete Transformation
This listed London home demonstrates the benefits of bringing together bespoke orangery design and luxury kitchen craftsmanship under one roof. Our customer detailed their experience in a 5* review on Trustpilot:
This was a tricky build, from design, planning (a Grade II* listed property), foundations onwards. David Salisbury were involved at the outset…We now have a wonderful quality and designed orangery and kitchen.

For owners of period and listed properties considering a new orangery, kitchen or complete home transformation, this project demonstrates how a carefully co-ordinated approach can deliver a result that is beautiful, practical and sympathetic to the original architecture – something that only David Salisbury is uniquely able to deliver.
