Working Safely During Lockdown 2.0

As we start the second official period of national Lockdown, whilst it feels all too familiar to most of us, this time round the Prime Minister specifically referenced the need for the manufacturing and construction sectors to carry on working. As a British manufacturer, making our award-winning orangeries and garden rooms from our hi-tech factory in Somerset, this was an important underscoring of the value of this sector as a whole to the broader economic health of the UK.

During his press conference last Saturday evening, Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated: “Workplaces should stay open where people can’t work from home – for example in the construction or manufacturing sectors.” Housing minister Robert Jenrick subsequently went on to confirm that builders merchants will remain open and tradespeople will be able to enter homes to conduct their work.

Here at David Salisbury, our factory and offices have remained open and Covid-secure throughout this pandemic. It goes without saying that the safety of our team, customers and suppliers continues to be our most important priority. It is only through joint precaution and us all adhering to the relevant restrictions that will see us through this period ahead.

Safe Design Consultations

As we have done since prior to the first Lockdown, we continue to offer our complimentary design consultations, whether this be at a safe distance at your property or remotely, using virtual software such as Zoom or FaceTime.

One of the key differences with David Salisbury as a business is the amount of time we invest in speaking to and assessing the needs of our customers when they initially enquire. We firmly believe in discussing this from the outset – so that, just like the bespoke nature of our product, we provide a service that meets your requirements.

We give each prospective new customer the choice of a home visit, with our designers wearing a mask and adhering to social distancing, an entirely virtual meeting, or an initial visit without the need for meeting in person.

This latter option would involve our designer visiting your property, without coming into contact with you – the idea being that they can access through a side gate to get dimensions and take photographs and then chat through the proposed project on the phone so we can then prepare a design and quotation (on a no obligation basis).

Either of the options that involve a home visit do not necessarily require us to enter your home – as we are looking at ideas and options to extend your home, this can be done from the garden as the exterior is the key factor.

If you would prefer to have no physical visit, you can utilise our virtual design service by providing some photographs and approximate dimensions of the area that you are considering extending, with an orangery or conservatory, and we can book a virtual design meeting.

Here for You

More than anything, we are here for you. It might seem churlish to use the term ‘lucky’ but in many ways we are fortunate that our sales, manufacturing and site operations can all remain open for business, in line with Government guidelines during Lockdown 2.0.

Whilst our award-winning orangeries and garden rooms are still being designed and built by our responsible team, working safely at all times, our thoughts are still with those individuals and businesses most impacted by Coronavirus.
