How Much Does a David Salisbury Kitchen Cost?

A David Salisbury kitchen is a bespoke design, made specifically for you, to enhance your home and lifestyle. It is quite simply the ultimate in luxury kitchen joinery.

Our kitchens are manufactured exclusively here in Britain from solid oak or walnut, with every element you would expect, and more, perfectly considered as part of the overall design. From the proportions of the cabinetry and choice of worktops to the specification of appliances, handles and exquisite internal storage ideas, the finishing touches and exceptional quality reflect the individuality of each project we undertake.

In the same vein as our bespoke orangeries, there is no standard price for a David Salisbury kitchen. Instead, we develop a detailed design and quotation based around your requirements, as part of our complimentary design service, which we prefer to start with a visit to your home.

Luxury Kitchen Price Guide

What influences the cost of a kitchen?

There are obviously several factors that can influence the overall cost of a David Salisbury kitchen.

These typically include the size of the kitchen, the complexity of the design, the materials and finishes selected, the appliances and worktops, and the extent of building works required.

The benefit of working with a bespoke designer/manufacturer is that the design and specification can be adjusted to work towards a particular budget.

The size and scale of the kitchen

It goes without saying that the overall size of your kitchen is naturally one of the most significant factors affecting price.

A compact kitchen with a relatively straightforward run of cabinetry will require less material and manufacturing time than a large open plan kitchen incorporating a substantial island, pantry, utility area and extensive storage.

However, with a truly bespoke kitchen, size is only part of the picture. A smaller kitchen will still involve the same level of craftsmanship if it incorporates intricate cabinetry, unusual dimensions or highly detailed features.

Size alone perhaps is not necessarily the best indicator of overall cost. A relatively small kitchen with lots of drawers, full-height cabinetry and internal fittings could cost more than a larger kitchen with a simpler design scheme.

Furthermore costs do not necessarily reduce proportionally with size. Any new kitchen will carry a degree of fixed costs, such as delivery and installation and worktop templating/fitting, as well as cabinetry manufacture, alongside a number of appliances which feature in every modern kitchen.

The complexity of the design

Every David Salisbury kitchen is individually designed, and the degree of detail within that design will influence the overall cost.

Examples of design features that might impact price include:

Generally speaking, drawers are more expensive than cupboards because of the additional manufacturing involved, which includes dovetailing, as well as materials such as drawer runners. A fully specified pantry cupboard adds considerably more than simple cupboard storage, whereas open shelving or fewer wall cabinets can reduce the cost.

The more individual elements and specialist joinery involved, the greater the design, manufacturing and installation input required.

The choice of timber, finish and detailing

The use of solid timber is fundamental to a David Salisbury kitchen and something that provides an unmistakable feeling of quality, ensuring a key point of difference from all other premium kitchen manufacturers.

Our cabinetry is made from solid oak or walnut, with no use of veneer or chipboard, giving each kitchen a sense of permanence and ensuring our cabinetry is more akin to the quality of fine furniture.

The choice of timber, painted or natural finish, detailing and decorative elements will all contribute to the final specification.

Kitchen Appliances

Appliances can represent a significant proportion of the overall kitchen investment, particularly where premium brands are selected.

The specification for a well-designed modern kitchen might include, for example:

David Salisbury works with leading premium appliance brands, allowing appliances to be incorporated into the kitchen design from the outset rather than treated as an afterthought.

This is particularly important with a bespoke kitchen, where the cabinetry can be designed precisely around the chosen appliances to create a completely cohesive look and feel.

Worktops & Splashbacks

The choice of worktop can also have a considerable impact on the overall cost.

Options may include natural stone, quartz or other premium surfaces, with the final quote influenced by the material selected, thickness, edge detail, amount of material required and complexity of fabrication (for example, work surfaces into corners or alcoves etc.).

Large islands, extensive worktop runs, upstands, splashbacks and integrated features can all increase the overall cost of the worktops.

As part of our complimentary design service, we always recommend a choice of worktops as part of the overall kitchen design, ensuring that the material, cabinetry and architectural character of the room work together in harmony.

Hardware & Finishing Touches

Handles, hinges, drawer mechanisms, integrated cabinetry lighting and internal storage systems may appear to be relatively small details, but collectively they make a meaningful difference to the overall quality of the specification. Every one of these elements will have been chosen carefully to work perfectly with our cabinetry and tested time and again.

The same applies to internal cabinetry. Deep pan drawers, specialist larder storage, plate racks, spice racks and bespoke storage can all be incorporated into the design, when working with a premium bespoke designer like David Salisbury.

A Complete Design & Build Service

In something that is unique to David Salisbury, certainly at the premium end of the market, we can offer a full build/turnkey service, which includes all of the preparatory building works. Where required, this means we can take responsibility for much more than just the cabinetry.

Our joined-up approach can incorporate the associated building works and services required to create the finished kitchen, including the rip out of an existing kitchen, plumbing and electrics, plastering, redecoration and other building works, alongside the provision of the new kitchen as well.

For projects involving a new kitchen extension, our capabilities can extend further still: David Salisbury can design and build an orangery kitchen extension as well as design, manufacture and install the kitchen.

This means that, rather than co-ordinating a kitchen company, builder, electrician, plumber and other trades yourself, a single David Salisbury team can manage the project as a cohesive whole. Significantly, it also means that the kitchen design and the surrounding extension and building work can be considered together from the beginning.

This is critical where a new extension is involved so that the proportions, natural light, openings and relationship between the new space and existing house can all be designed with the new kitchen in mind.

David Salisbury’s complete design & build process is intended to provide this joined-up experience, from the initial design consultation through planning and technical design to manufacture and installation. For kitchens combined with an orangery and/or requiring our full build service, as part of a turnkey quote, we always require a site visit to assess the conditions and specific build context (and are therefore excluded from the typical guide prices below).

What Should You Budget?

Because every David Salisbury kitchen is bespoke, we believe it is more helpful to establish a realistic budget range based on the scope of your project than to publish a single starting price that may bear little resemblance to the finished kitchen.

As noted above, the specifications of the appliances and worktops (material choice and overall footprint) will influence the overall cost, especially if a premium brand range cooker (e.g. Lacanche) is included or a large fridge freezer with integrated ice and water dispenser. With these factors in mind, typical price ranges for these items might be as follows:

The following cabinetry price ranges are intended to be a guide and not representative of a formal quote. All cabinetry pricing includes:

Depending on the scope of the project, you may also need to allow for preparatory building works, first and second fix services, flooring and decorating, where these sit outside the David Salisbury kitchen quotation.
