Now for time well spent at home
12 July 2018
Whilst a great many of us have enjoyed the relative success of the England football team at the World Cup, alongside the long run of amazing weather in this country, it now seems we are reverting back to type.
Some rain has finally made an appearance, which is most welcome for farmers and gardeners alike, and the wait for football to “come home” carries on. While there are some certainties in life (rain and our sporting results), the other main event to dominate the news agenda this week is how uncertain the political environment now seems.
We would not wish to enter into political discussion as such but the Brexit situation seems ripe for being managed by someone with the calm demeanour of Gareth Southgate.
Whatever the case, we simply hope the country and outcome can become as united as we have been in our recent support for the football team.
With the potential change in weather and the World Cup now all but over, we’re concentrating on getting back to normal and spending some quality time at home, when we’re not working.
No matter your political or sporting allegiances, the one thing we love perhaps more anything here in the UK is our homes. Having a versatile room that can be used all year round, whilst providing great views of your garden and surrounding environment, are just some of the many advantages of an extension like an orangery or oak framed building.
Merging that feeling of the indoors with the outdoors and adding vast amounts of natural light are additional benefits that also help bring the values of ‘healthy living’ which is increasingly important to us all.
Wood is, of course, the only truly sustainable building material available. These themes of sustainability and healthy homes are subjects we will return to in the coming weeks via our Blog. They are also key subjects that were highlighted in the recent British Woodworking Federation’s Members Day, which we were pleased to be part of.
Until next time, let’s forget the sporting and political news and focus on time well spent at home, relaxing in your favourite room with easy access to your garden.
