Which room at home will you celebrate Christmas in?
8 December 2017
As we are now well into the Christmas season, thoughts turn towards the festive break and some all important family time.
With a little over two weeks to go, we will soon be gathering with loved ones and enjoying some time both relaxing and, most likely, entertaining. If you are having visitors over, simple thoughts like ensuring the comfort of your guests is something that hopefully you already have in hand.
Of course, one of the many benefits of building an extension like an orangery, oak extension or conservatory, is the additional space that is created.
Our customers often tell us how their David Salisbury structure has completely changed their lifestyles. As one recent customer from Cheshire noted, “we love our new Orangery - it has transformed our cottage and given us a beautiful new living space.” (You can read this review in full, among others, via our Facebook Reviews page).
In recent years, one of the most common uses of an orangery extension has been to create space for a new kitchen. A subject we blogged about a few weeks ago, the trend for open plan kitchens with a dining area usually necessitates having to create more floor space.
So while a new area for cooking and preparing food is likely to add significant value to your home, having additional space for entertaining guests and enjoying a meal is just as important. Whether it be to sit at a formal dining table or a more relaxed breakfast table, the chance to eat with family is one that seems to be diminishing in frequency.
More so than cooking and eating, relaxing and simply enjoying the views is perhaps the primary function of a garden room or orangery. Being closer to your garden is without doubt a positive way to spend some down time – with the full height windows and doors that are a typical feature of these types of building extensions also providing easy access into your garden.
Whether you’re celebrating the festive period in your orangery, garden room or other room of your home, we wish you a suitably festive occasion.
And if extending your home is an aspiration for 2018, it’s never too early to request a copy of our inspirational brochure: it would make great reading over the Christmas break!
