The Future of The Conservatory

It’s been rather a long time since my last entry, during which I have been to Australia and back. Not that being in Australia is any excuse, as I was online virtually every day. Since my return, there has been a crazy pace of work – especially the preparation for next year’s marketing campaign.

Breckenridge Administration

I was shocked but not surprised to hear this morning that Breckenridge Conservatories has entered an insolvency procedure and called a meeting of its creditors. This is the kind of company that gives our industry a bad name. It is less than than five years since an earlier incarnation of this company with the same ownership went down owing a lot of money, only to be reborn days later after a “pre-pack” administration.

More About The Weather

Snow is rare in this area and we make a big deal of it when it comes. Those of you who live in the north or even the east of the country would wonder about the consternation a few inches of snow can causes. People in our northern office can’t believe the fuss we make as of course they get it every year – and worse.Because it’s relatively rare, I can’t resist going out with the camera........

I took this picture yesterday from the top of a rise no more than half a mile from my house. That was before another downpour last night, but I am not venturing out yet to have look. I have lived in this house for 30 years and have never seen anything like it before.

Storm Sandy

Our American partner “Parish Conservatories” to whom we have supplied dozens of conservatories over the past 7 years has been in the eye of the storm. They operate their business from a small industrial unit in Connecticut and the roof has been blown clean off.
