This stunning stone and timber property in rural Somerset was completely transformed by a combination of new modern wooden windows and doors from David Salisbury Joinery.
As with many of the projects we get involved with, whether for an orangery or conservatory extension, or new windows and doors as in this case, the design brief surrounds adding in more natural light and taking in the expansive views.
No doubt the full height windows and doors certainly do the views justice!
Reaching up to the eaves of the roof, the windows certainly make a feature of the end of the modern kitchen extension. With space for a dining table, this is the ideal space for breakfast or a morning coffee with something of an exceptional panorama.
Twin sets of bi-fold doors (or sliding doors as they are also commonly known) open out from the kitchen and adjoining living room area onto a raised balcony area, with steps allowing easy access to the garden.
A combination of casement windows around the rest of the ground and first floors were combined in some cases with either entrance or French doors.
The property itself has benefitted from a number of interior improvements, with the contemporary looking kitchen and choice of furniture all adding to the fresh, modern style.
Open plan living has been a common theme for a number of years now and features like sliding doors and French doors certainly help bring the feeling of the outdoors closer to the indoors.
With the variable weather we seem to increasingly endure in this country, this sounds like the best combination to us – enjoying a feeling of the outside from the comfort of your home, whilst having easy access to the garden if we do experience another long, hot Summer like we did in 2018.
Thinking of new timber windows & doors – think of David Salisbury.
