A Planning application and/or listed building consent is required for the majority of our conservatory and orangery projects, although some smaller projects are exempt. To facilitate and speed this process we directly employ a planning specialist. He will often be involved even before our designer has visited you, to look up the planning history of your property and to research for any pitfalls.
By the time you have placed an order with us our specialist will have already advised as to what is required. From a certificate of lawfulness to a full planning and listed application. By having been involved early, he can usually submit the application very quickly, unless there remain decisions to be finalised at survey that may affect the specification.
Accurate measurements, are of course a vital part of the process, but the survey does more than this. Our surveyor or project manager will go through the details of the contract with you to ensure you understand exactly what you have bought, and deal with any afterthoughts or amendments you wish to make. Once the survey is completed, a set of technical drawings ("The Working Drawings") will be produced which will be mm perfect to the sizes of the joinery that we will manufacture.
The Working Drawings will be presented for your approval prior to manufacture but we do not expect you to approve the dimensions - it is our job to get these right. However we do ask that you examine them carefully and approve the overall appearance and proportions as these can sometimes change slightly from the Designer's concept drawing. The working drawings also contain a base plan that the builder will use to construct the foundations and build any walls that are required.
